We are excited to offer on behalf of one of our clients this outstanding 1973 Porsche Carrera RS M472.
For many years, 2shores has been offering selected, finest grade examples of air-cooled Porsches. This Porsche Carrera 2.7 RS is one of those examples!
The 73 Carrera RS needs no introduction in the world of car enthusiasts. RS stands for Rennsport in German, meaning racing sport. The RS was developed to meet motorsport homologation requirements. Compared to a standard 911S, the Carrera 2.7 RS had a larger engine (2,687 cc) developing 210 PS (150 kW; 210 hp) with Bosch mechanical fuel injection, revised and stiffened suspension, a "ducktail" rear spoiler, larger brakes, wider rear wheels and rear fenders, to fit 185/70VR15 & 215/60VR15 Pirelli Cinturato CN36 tires. The initial plan was to just develop 500 examples, but the overwhelming public interest in the car led to a larger production. In total, 1,590 units were made and the cars are considered to be perhaps the most exciting air-cooled road car ever engineered by Porsche.
These cars do not come to the market often and our example here is surely one of the most exciting RS cars on the market worldwide.
RS# 0093, well known in the Porsche community as the “Swiss bus drivers RS” is one of the initial first 500 batch, highly collectable!
The car started life as a Swiss delivery to a bus driver in Geneva. It was delivered on December 13th 1972 to Garage Schiller in Geneva. The original “Wagenkarte” is still with the car! The first owner kept the car for about 15 years and legend has it, that this car was his main possession. It was then sold with about 50k km on it to the UK in the late 80’s and came to a US buyer in 1996. It changed hands within the US a few times and finally arrived in the collection of our customer in 2009. The car only has original 90700km today (56687 miles) and is highly authentic.
Aside from a high quality repaint to original specifications in 2014 by well known Panelwerks in Ohio, the car is unrestored and highly original. The body has never been apart (even for the repaint, the owner did not want the car to be taken apart) and all panels are the original lightweight sheet metal. The interior is original and excellent.
Mechanically, the car is in A1 condition. Always serviced regularly, the numbers matching 2.7 liter power plant performs flawless. The RS runs and drives and handles like a dream!
Today the car retains all of its original options: M472 touring package/409 sport seats/102 heated rear window/439 black Carrera lettering/569 rear collision bar. A period correct Becker Mexico radio/cassette unit has been installed early in its life.
The car comes with the original tool kit, spare tire (date coded) original air pump, and all four original and date stamped Fuchs wheels (6” and 7”, not currently mounted). Original owner’s manual and RS supplement in German language as well as AFN Heritage certificate.
Without a doubt, this Carrera RS represents a very rare opportunity to acquire a fully documented, low mile and very original RS in a stunning color combination and with a wonderful history.
This car is a truly excellent example for the most discerning collector and enthusiast.
