1974 Maserati Khamsin

We are excited to offer on behalf of one of our clients this outstanding 1974 Maserati Khamsin.

For many years, 2shores has been offering selected, finest grade examples of collectible automobiles. This rare Maserati is one of those examples!

The Khamsin was introduced on the Bertone stand at the November 1972 Turin Auto Show as a concept car. Designed by Marcello Gandini, it was Bertone's first work for Maserati. Its design highlight was a clear rear section which housed the tail lights along with a sharp, angular design in contrast to its predecessor. In March 1973, the production model was shown at the Paris Motor Show. Regular production of the vehicle started only a year later, in 1974.
Sales of the Khamsin fell far short of expectations. Today it is considered the most underrated classic Maserati. A total of just over 400 examples were built, of which 71 are right-hand drive. 150 cars were built for the US market, but they were delivered with unattractive bumpers, resulting in a modified rear end and most of them as automatic transmission. Only the manual transmission early cars are interesting for the collector, these have the hood without air intakes and a different interior seat design. Of these, fewer than 200 cars remain worldwide.

Our car on offer was delivered to Japan on May 31, 1974 and is the 35th Khamsin to roll off the assembly line, so a very early car. The car came to a German collector in 2018, who discovered it during an overseas trip. In Germany, the vehicle was treated to a professional and meticulous, open checkbook nut and bolt restoration. From the get go, the aim was to create the best Maserati Khamsin in the world, true to the original, regardless of costs. The restoration work was carried out over a period of 4 years, accompanied by a Maserati specialist and documented with around 1000 photos. The result is a Maserati Khamsin better than new in every respect. Finished in the fascinating color combination of “Oro Kelso/Senape, this is truly an outstanding classic Maserati. Without exaggerating, this is probably the best Khamsin in the world. A car in absolute Pebble Beach collector quality!

The car is not presented extensively on the Internet and is offered exclusively by 2shores to a select group of enthusiasts. There is no better Khamsin on the market!
