We are excited to offer on behalf of one of our clients this beautiful Rolls Royce Silver Cloud III.
The Silver Cloud replaced the Silver Dawn and was, in turn, replaced by the Silver Shadow. The J. P. Blatchley design was a major change from the pre-war models and the highly derivative Silver Dawn. As part of a range rationalization the Bentley S1 is very similar, apart from its radiator grille. The Silver Cloud III arrived in 1963. External dimensions were slightly altered, the interior remodeled, the weight reduced by a little over 100 kg (220 lb) and improvements made to the engine. The transmission was a GM Hydramatic which Rolls-Royce used under license.
The headlights were grouped in a four-headlamp layout subsequently continued in the later Silver Shadow. Between 1963 and 1966 there were no major changes. A chrome badge reading "Silver Cloud III" in an italic font can be seen on the right bottom side of the boot of most UK and European delivered examples, whilst US versions were delivered without this badge.
As with earlier models, Rolls-Royce continued to make the Silver Cloud chassis available to traditional coachbuilders. 328 Silver Cloud III were built.
The example on offer here is a European delivery car that came to California in 1970. The car has had only 3 owners from new, the current since 1989. The car has only 54k miles on the odometer and remains in very nice condition. We believe the car has had one re-spray to the current color scheme but is for the most part un-restored and original.
The car is in good running condition. The body appears to be free of any accidents but the paint shows some wear. The chrome and stainless is very nice. The interior is in very good condition with the original woodwork in great condition and nice soft Connolly leather. It comes with its original spare, jack, tools and manuals.
Please study all the photos closely to evaluate the condition of this car!
