We are pleased to offer on behalf of one of our clients this highly original survivor 911.
This car is very unique. Yes, it has heavy patina wearing its original coat of paint as applied in Stuttgart back in 1969. This one was not pampered, polished, put away for an occasional drive... No, this 911 is a true testament to Ferdinand Porsche and the brilliant engineering that went into these cars. This one was driven pretty much every day of its life and over 200.000 miles by now. It has been the daily driver and only car to the owner for the past 17 years. When did you last see that? Acquired in 2002 from the original California owner, who purchased the car in San Francisco, this 911 has been on the road doing what Porsches do best. Driving!
The engine was rebuilt about 60k miles ago by renowned mark specialist John Holleran (invoices available on request). It retains its original, numbers matching case, crankshaft, and rods, intake manifolds, and Weber carbs. During rebuild the displacement was increased to 2.2 L using new Mahle pistons and Nikasil lined cylinders. Rebuilt heads from 1970/71 911 E were fitted, and new “solex grind” cams were installed. Later era sump pickup was installed during the rebuild. Turbo valve covers were added, as was the air filter (original available). Original Marelli was replaced with a 1971 911S Bosch unit. Original breaker points replaced with Pertonix system, and MSD 6AL unit was added. The engine is estimated to make about 200hp at the flywheel!!
The body of the car is heavily patinaed. The original tangerine paint is dull and in many places worn through the primer or even to the metal. There is a dent in the front right fender and an area where the car was touched up on the right rear quarter panel. Door and panel fit is excellent. Always a California car, there are no significant corrosion issues. The interior is well worn as well. Both front seats are aftermarket GTS hounds tooth sport seats and in good condition, but the rest of the interior is old and worn, but functional. All electrical components work perfectly.
This is a true driver’s car. Once you start this car up and put it in gear, you know....You feel it. This car is super tight. The engine is responsive, rev happy and strong. No coughing, no hesitation, just going forward. The tranny shifts with German precision, steering and braking is super tight. Dead steady idle. It really is so much fun, you never want to stop driving or smiling! Very unique!
The car comes with original manual, service booklet, jack, spare and tool kit.
