We are pleased to offer on behalf of one of our clients this highly original Porsche 356B Coupe.
Every once in a while, you come across a very special, original car. This is one of these cars. This Karmann built 356B Coupe was delivered new to Johnson Pacific Porsche in Burlingame in April of 1962. The first owner, a Mr. Ramos of San Francisco purchased the car and kept it until 1990. In 1990, the car was acquired by the current owner, also from San Francisco. Being a busy lawyer the little Porsche was used only for occasional weekend trips along the California coastline.
Consequently, the car has only accumulated 46248 original miles as of today. Aside, from a quality paintjob in its original black (code 6213) exterior color, this stunning Coupe is a highly original and un-restored survivor.
Fully numbers matching (VIN/engine/transmission/paint) the car is a true time capsule. It smells, drives and looks like only very few cars can. The body is very straight with correct factory gaps and shut lines all around. The paint is still in very good condition with great sheen, only showing minimal signs of wear. Unfortunately, the owner had a little mishap backing out of his small garage resulting in scratching and slightly denting the right rear fender panel. He opted not to have this repaired at this time for full transparency. Please see our photos on this. All chrome and stainless is original, unrestored and shows beautiful, with correct age related patina. All original emblems are present and showing beautiful settled patina. Original 4.5” x15 steel wheels (5) are all date stamped 1-62 and perfect. The spare tire has never been on the ground!
The interior is 100% original and in remarkable condition. Beautiful, fully functional gauges in a crack free dash. The original Blaupunkt tube radio is in perfect working order and comes with the original manual and warranty card present! Seats show little wear consistent with a 55 year old vehicle and very low miles. The original carpet is thinning in places but still useable and in no need of replacement. Perfect original door panels and headliner!
Mechanically, the car is excellent. Driving it is the real experience of a low mile 356. The car feels light, snappy and tight. It steers, shifts and brakes exactly as envisioned by Ferry Porsche. Finally, the underside of the car shows no signs of any rust, accident or welding. Even the battery box is solid and original.
The car still carries the original California black plates with registration stickers of 55 years mounting up on each other (s. photo).
Unrestored 356 Porsches like this are almost non-existent and very rare to find. We are happy to answer any further questions.
Please study all the photos closely to evaluate the condition of this car!
