1966 Sunbeam Tiger MK1A
Sunbeam Tigers are very unique and desirable high performance sports cars. They gained fame instantly because of the involvement of AC Cobra founder Carroll Shelby in developing the car in the early 60’s. Shelby used a Ford 260cui motor to give this little English roadster some muscle. Overall only 7,083 Tigers were built from 1964 through 1967. They are a wonderful snappy little sports car with amazing road abilities, even on longer tours. With limited built numbers and great looks and performance, original and correct Tigers are hard to find and rapidly increasing in value.
The car on offer here is a fully restored MK1a Tiger with less than 2000 miles on the rotisserie restoration. This is a 4 owner car with one longtime owner from new until 2003. This Tiger is a numbers matching, correct and highly original Tiger with Certificate of Authenticity from the Sunbeam Tiger Owners Association (STOA) on hand. The original 260cui motor has been rebuilt with less than 2000 miles on it.
Recently fully sorted and ready to roar!
The restoration was finished in 2010 with two binders full of receipts documenting the work. Since then the car has seen only dry weather trips to shows and gatherings. Even the underside of the car shows immaculate.
Beautiful factory correct forest green over black leather. Brand new Panasport aluminum rims with new tires. The car also comes with 5 original steel wheels with hubcaps and beauty rings.
This Tiger also has the rare, original factory Hardtop in addition to the Softtop.
There are many extra parts including some very rare and hard to find original Tiger parts coming with this car.
Tigers have celebrated their 50 year anniversary this year with some special events during this year’s Monterey Historics!
Please study all the photos closely to evaluate the condition of this car!
