We are delighted to offer, on behalf of a valued client, this outstanding 1961 Porsche 356 B Roadster.
For many years, 2shores has specialized in presenting only the finest examples of collectible automobiles. This rare B Roadster is a perfect illustration of that standard.
Introduced in 1960, the 356 B Roadster replaced the earlier D model. By the early 1960s, however, demand for open-top sports cars was declining sharply, making the B Roadster relatively scarce. Just 473 examples were produced in 1961, securing its place as a desirable and uncommon variant today.
This particular car spent more than four decades in single California ownership before the current owner acquired it in 2010 and repatriated it to Germany. In the late 1990s it received a thorough cosmetic restoration that included a bare-metal respray to original specifications, together with mechanical refreshes comprising new windshield seals, transmission, clutch, suspension, and brakes. The result remains exceptional: the car still presents beautifully and drives as a well-sorted 356 should.
It is a fascinating example accompanied by its original Kardex card. The original engine (#89367) was replaced more than thirty years ago with a period correct engine the closely sequential unit #89338.
Bodywork is by D’Ieteren. The Roadster is currently registered and licensed in Germany and comes complete with a full tonneau cover, original manuals, spare wheel, and jack.
