This is a California 1987 911 Carrera Targa in fantastic condition.
This car is one of the sought-after G50 cars, with the upgraded Getrag five-speed. The 1987 Carrera was the first year of that gearbox, with Borg-Warner synchros and a hydraulic clutch, replacing the 915 used on 1984–86 cars. It is also the last of the original-body 911s before the 964 was introduced.
Finished in India Red over beige leather it presents very well and still carries mostly of it’s original paint. The hood, decklid, and passenger door show some paintwork. The finish is excellent, with only smaller imperfections consistent with miles and age.
Sold new on December 16th, 1986, at Porsche Vallejo, it remained a California car throughout its life. It has a strong service history and spent 20 years with the last owner before the current owner took possession in 2025.
A documented top-end rebuild was done at 67,000 miles in 1997. Just last year it received a substantial refresh, about $19,000, including an engine-out reseal, new clutch and flywheel, spark-plug wires, distributor cap, valve-cover gaskets, shift lever, Bilstein shocks and struts, bearings, brake lines, and more. It runs and drives beautifully and is mechanically fully sorted.
The beige leather is original and in excellent condition, with only the slightest wear on the bolsters. The dash and carpets are essentially perfect. The beige leather is set off by a black dash, black steering wheel, and black carpeting. The Targa top fits properly and is in great condition inside and out.
There is no accident or corrosion history. It comes with a clean Carfax, all original manuals and books, the spare, the jack, and the original tool kit. It has been lowered to Euro-spec ride height and wears four original Fuchs in excellent condition (still with the original valve-stem supports) on like-new 2025 Yokohama tires.
