1960 Austin Healey 3000 MK1
We are excited to offer this extremely nice, original black plate California Austin Healey 3000 MK1.
For many years, 2shores has been offering selected first grade examples of collectible automobiles. This truly beautiful, early big Healey is one of those special cars!
The Austin-Healey 3000 was announced on 1 July 1959 with a 3-litre BMC C-Series engine to replace the smaller 2.6-litre engine of the 100-6 and disc brakes for its front wheels. The manufacturers claimed it would reach 60 mph in 11 seconds and 100 mph in 31 seconds.
Other changes were minor compared to those between the original 100 and the 100-6. The wheelbase and body were unchanged as were the body-styles, a 2+2 or BT7 and a two-seater BN7.
Weather protection remained minimal, a folding plastic roof on a light demountable frame and above the doors detachable side screens. Wire wheels, overdrive gearbox, laminated windscreen, heater, adjustable steering column, detachable hard top for the 2+2, and two-tone paint were available as options.
Our car on offer is a 3000 MK1 BT7, the 2+2 seater model. The car is a true California car still carrying its original black plate from 1960. It has been with its first and original owner for over 50(!) years and changed to the second (current) owner 6 years ago.
A beautiful and completely rust-free example with only 31k miles showing which is believed to be correct.
The car was restored about 15 years ago and still shows extremely well.
Finished in ice blue over navy blue interior, the car looks simply gorgeous. Paint, chrome and stainless are in excellent condition. The engine and engine bay is clean and detailed and the car runs and drives fantastic. A full top (not pictured) is of course with the car.
A true black plate California Healey with only two owners from new. Rare find!
