1965 Porsche 911 Sunroof Coupe (MY 1966) VIN 302352 | Light Ivory (6404) over Black Pepita seats.
We are privileged to offer, on behalf of a long-term client, this very early Porsche 911 from September 1965 — one of approximately 30–35 known factory-sunroof cars from the 1965 model year.
Delivered new on 22 September 1965 to Mahag in Munich, this matching-numbers example retains its original engine, transmission, color code and Webasto heater. Finished in the highly desirable combination of Light Ivory over black Pepita (houndstooth) seats, it presents as a pure and correct early 911 of exceptional quality.
Purchased by the current owner in 2012 and returned to Germany for a comprehensive yet respectful restoration, the body was dry-ice blasted and manually stripped of paint before receiving new primer and a complete respray to original specifications. The engine, transmission, and Solex carburetors were fully overhauled, while new brakes and suspension were fitted. Importantly, the interior’s original patina was carefully preserved, resulting in a highly original vehicle despite the thorough restoration.
Invoices for the bodywork and paint are available.
Collectors will appreciate the abundance of correct early details: original stamped 1965 fenders, the distinctive “wedges” on both chrome window frames, stamped indentations (ribbing) in the door sills, Sekurit glass in all windows except the windshield, and original Bosch US-specification brake lights and turn signals. Correct bumper reinforcements in place.
Further period-correct features include the early steering gear with its original damper (stamped 8/65) and body stamping 46/64, the original oil tank with correct mounting, original lap belts, and the original wood-rimmed steering wheel.
The matching-numbers Webasto heater was restored separately. A period radio (not listed on the Kardex) is also present.
Accompanied by its original Kardex and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, this is a rare opportunity to acquire a documented, early-production sunroof 911 that combines genuine originality with a high-quality, factory-correct restoration made in Germany!
