1996 Porsche 993 Carrera 4S

We are excited to offer on behalf of one of our customers, this very cool and highly desirable 1996 Porsche 993 4S Coupe.

For many years, 2shores has been offering selected first grade examples of collectible automobiles. This outstanding 993 4S Coupe is one of those rare offerings!

The Porsche 993 is the internal designation for the Porsche 911 model manufactured and sold between January 1994 and early 1998 (model years 1995–1998 in the United States), replacing the 964. Its discontinuation marked the end of all air-cooled 911 models.
The 993 was much improved over and quite different from its predecessor. According to Porsche, every part of the car was designed from the ground up, including the engine and only 20% of its parts were carried over from the previous generation. Porsche refers to the 993 as “a significant advance, not just from a technical, but also a visual perspective.
The 993 was the first generation of the 911 to have a six-speed manual transmission included as standard; its predecessors had four- or five-speed transmissions.

The Carrera 4 S (1996) and the later rear-wheel drive Carrera S (1997) shared the Turbo model’s body shell, but housed the naturally aspirated engine in the rear. Both of the S models had slightly lowered suspension as compared to standard Carrera models. The wide bodywork is widely acclaimed for its rear looks; it creates more aerodynamic drag, leading to slightly lower top speeds compared to the narrower siblings (about 5 km/h), but the wider tires result in excellent road holding.

The technology of the Carrera 4S is basically the same as that of the Carrera. The 210 kW (286 hp) naturally aspirated engine also works in the Carrera 4S. But from a technical point of view, the designers also gave the Carrera 4S a system part from the Turbo: The Carrera 4S received its stronger braking system from the Turbo including the associated red brake calipers. In addition, some equipment elements are standard in the Carrera 4S that are only available in the Carrera at an additional cost: air conditioning, on-board computer, leather interior, electric seat adjustment, rear window wiper, roof panel with integrated third brake light and sound package with cassette radio. Finally, sports seats are optionally available on the Carrera 4S at no extra charge.

The Carrera 4S was built in relatively small numbers compared to the Porsche 993 Carrera. This is one of the reasons why you usually have to pay significantly more for the Carrera 4S than for a Carrera or Carrera 4. A total of only 6,948 units of the Carrera 4S were manufactured.

Our car on offer is a very nicely kept 4S example in classic black with a very unique, black/red interior. First owner was the Porsche factory (documented) who may have used this car as a representation example for trade shows. The car has some very unique exclusive options including the full two tone leather, red stitching, red leather wrapped instruments (!) with red dials and much more.

The car is in remarkably good condition, visually and mechanically excellent. Complete owner (4) and service history with only about 78k miles from new.
The wide body Carrera 4S in black has a dramatic look about it and we personally have never seen a two tone interior like this.

This is a rare opportunity to acquire one of the last air-cooled 911s in a truly one of a kind color combination.
